Krystal Ball - " These soldiers were literally caught on tape raping a Palestinian

“These soldiers were literally caught on tape raping a Palestinian. Their initial arrest sparked the infamous “right to rape” protests. Apparently the protest succeeded in its aims of total impunity for torture and abuse of Palestinians”

BREAKING: The Israeli military says it is dropping charges against five soldiers who were accused of sexually abusing a Palestinian detainee.

Protesters, politicians and TV commentators in Israel are defending the right of soldiers to mistreat and even rape Palestinian prisoners in detention. The show of support follows the gang rape of a male detainee by a group of Israeli reservists.

A warrant for Netanyahu's arrest has been issued. As well as Putin's. Much like Dutuerte, they can and should be arrested if they step foot in a country that is a signatory of the I.C.C. agreement.

ETA: Fortuitously, it's only 4 paragraphs! (EDIT 2) there is more at the link, background on the situation. I didn't page down far enough past the ads.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel’s military on Thursday said it was dropping charges against five soldiers accused of beating and sexually abusing a Palestinian detainee in an alleged assault partially caught on camera.

The decision, which came as much of the country’s attention was focused on the war with Iran, closed a flashpoint case that has bitterly divided Israel since the soldiers were arrested in 2024 at the notorious Sde Teiman military prison, prompting anger from members of the far-right government and hard-line ultranationalists who violently overran the prison in protest.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the announcement, while human rights groups accused the military of ignoring one of the gravest instances of abuse in the country’s network of wartime prisons.

“Israel’s military advocate general just gave his soldiers license to rape -- so long as the victim is Palestinian,” said Sari Bashi, executive director of the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel, after the case was dismissed. She said the decision was “the latest in a long line of actions that whitewash abuses against detainees whose frequency and severity have worsened since Oct. 7, 2023.”

I’ve been told again and again that every bit is justified because Hamas committed violent rape.

Well, apparently it’s ok if Bibi’s thugs are the ones doing the violent raping.

And before anyone chimes in with the usual accusations, let me be clear: Hamas is a vile terrorist regime that should be wiped out to its last member, but that has nothing to do with Netanyahu’s years-long campaign of civilian slaughter.

lest there be misunderstanding about this travesty of justice:

https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/crime-in-israel/article-889791

There are human rights groups in Israel who are just as outraged by this decision.

One of the reasons I post this is the danger of blaming the entire group (Jews) for the actions of wrongdoers.
This is in light of today's attack on a synagogue in Michigan .... and history.

He compares the leak of the video to the "blood libel", where Jews were often in history blamed, WITHOUT EVIDENCE, for the death a gentile child.
He has succeeded in making 'anti-Semitism' a meaningless word, simply something to utter when you wish to cover your crimes.
He is bad for the Jews, ALL the Jews, whether they know it or not.

Netanyahu and by extension, much of Israel will become very desperate to keep Republicans in power because the alternative is not a positive outcome for Israel/American relations.

Anybody supported by AIPAC and cooperating PACs are suspect.

Netanyahu is most responsible for putting targets on my Jewish friend's backs. I fear for them.
They want no part of how the Palestinian's have been treated. Oct. 7th was horrible, no doubt, but you don't take it out on innocent women and children and expect the world to accept it. Sure, immediate reaction would be expected, but the prolonged torture and genocide was and is unacceptable. Especially, since Netanyahu is obviously using the opportunity to stay out of prison. Your friends and allies would have been by Israel's side in support of punishment and retribution but this is not that.

The IDF regularly murders Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank with total immunity from accountability. Palestinians, including, are locked up with no charges and kept imprisoned indefinitely. Imprisoned Palestinians are tortured and raped. It sickens me that my tax dollars help support this brutal regime.
