For my part, I have also made this same argument to transphobic assholes over the years.

Meanwhile -- I live in Virginia. One of the political blogs in Virginia is an accumulation of half-wits, dumbasses, former Tea Partiers, and MAGAts. I won't identify it, however, this bit of wisdom was posted recently by a guy who is a local Republican Party official, a member of the Republican Party of Virginia Executive Committee, and was recently defeated by a Democrat for a seat on his county Board of Supervisors.

Loved living in NoVa (mainly living on beltway/gov't jobs) and traveling into the mountains. The valleys and red soil country were "interesting". Lots of gentrification going on which also build resentments.

Just to address the 2nd claim: Teens getting transgender surgery. Does this numpty have any idea how much that elective surgery costs? Where would a teenager get that kind of scratch?

I was in Paris in 2015 with a group of high school students. I went to a public bathroom, did my business in the stall, came out, and while I was washing my hands at the sink, a middle-aged man exited the other stall, walked to the sink next to me, smiled, and washed his hands.

So, ok, it was unexpected, to say the least, but after a moment, I shrugged and went to join my group. No trauma, no drama.

First of all, I’ve been around straight cisgender men all my life (I’m gay), and let me just tell ya: the last thing they would EVER want to do is dress like a woman to sneak into a bathroom. That would be an insult to their manliness.

Second, if a straight male wanted to go into a women’s restroom to assault someone, what is stopping him? Public multi-user restrooms don’t have locked doors. This is a “thing” that doesn’t happen.

They just want to harass trans people. That’s it.

Why are right wingers and the religious right so dead set against gays, trans, and others? --- Misdirection.
