OOOH. OOOH! Grampy unleashes a MASTEFUL zinger against the SCOTUS: "Kangaroo Court!!!" THAT will show them! USA!

Trump started his Thursday morning with a brief but furious attack on the Supreme Court on his Truth Social platform.

"Kangaroo Court!!!" wrote Trump.

This comes after a disastrous day of oral argument for Trump's executive order limiting birthright citizenship to only the children of citizens or lawful permanent residents — an extreme and unprecedented change not only unauthorized by Congress but explicitly contradicting the definition of citizenship laid out in the 14th Amendment, and over a century of precedent from federal courts establishing all persons born in the United States have citizenship.

AIf the order is allowed to go into effect, potentially millions of people born in the United States to undocumented immigrants, or even to legal residents who don't have permanent status, would be ineligible for federal documents like passports that affirm citizenship.

Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett were all on a list from Leonard Leo of the Federalist Society, which was given to McConnell as a demand, not a request.

Trump actually selecting them would imply that he took time off from TV watching, tweeting, and golf, and we know that didn't happen. Trump took credit for it and signed off on it but it was never anything more than McConnell following orders from Leonard Leo.

CHANG: Leonard Leo - he leads the Federalist Society. It's a conservative legal organization. And through this group, Leo has spent the majority of his adult life working towards one central goal - getting conservatives appointed to the most powerful courts in this country, including the Supreme Court.

RUTH MARCUS: He, more than any other single person outside of government, is responsible for the transformation of the federal judiciary and the Supreme Court into the conservative-dominated institution that it is today.

CHANG: That's Washington Post columnist and author Ruth Marcus. She writes about the Federalist Society and Leonard Leo in her book, "Supreme Ambition: Brett Kavanaugh And The Conservative Takeover." Now, to fully understand how we got to this moment and how Leonard Leo grew to have so much personal influence over who now sits on the nation's highest court, you first need to understand the list

The conservative judges will rule against him from time to time because what he wants isn't always conservative; sometimes it's just stupidly unconstitutional. In the birthright citizenship case he's tried to rewrite the Constitution (a) because he's a racist, and (b) because he's an authoritarian who thinks his executive orders must always be obeyed. But even his conservative appointees aren't having it and he's furious at their lèse-majesté.
