All Texas Trump Burger restaurants changed their names amid legal battle, owners' ICE arrest

The changes come amid a spate of complex and unusual legal issues surrounding the brand. Roland Beainy, Trump Burger's public representative, opened the series of Texas-based burger joints. However, couple Suad Hamedah and Iyad Abuelhawa claim Beainey stole the brand from them after they brought him on board to for their initial 2016 restaurant concept, Trump Cafe.

Before opening Trump Cafe, Abuelhawa was charged in a Medicare fraud case for giving fake flu vaccines to Exxon Mobil employees and seniors. He pled guilty in 2007. In February 2025, the Trump Organization sent Trump Burger a cease-and-desist letter.

Months later, both Beainy and Abuelhawa were detained by ICE; Beainy on May 16 and Abuelhawa on June 2. Beainy was released on bond in June, while a judge ordered Abuelhawa's release in October, partially citing medical neglect while in ICE custody.

Though Trump Cafe announced its closure in 2017, Abuelhawa and his wife seem determined to make the Trump Burger brand great again: “I’m taking the restaurants back from him, because they’re mine,” Abuelhawa said, according to the Chronicle. “Everything is mine.”
