The husband of Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen, whom police found killed at her home Wednesday, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with her death. Broward Sheriffs Office
records show Stephen Bowen, 40, is booked in the countys Main Jail, pending charges of premeditated murder and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
He is being held without bond due to the murder charge. The evidence-tampering charge would otherwise carry a $50,000 bond. Coral Springs Police Department officers performed a wellness check on Metayer Bowen, 38, at her home at approximately 10:04 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased Black female victim within the residence and positively identified her as Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen, a
statement from the Department said. Through the preliminary investigation, it was determined the incident was domestic in nature and the husband, Stephen Bowen
is in police custody. At this time there are no additional suspects being sought or threat to the community.
Sources told Florida Politics there were multiple gunshots at the residence. Police have not yet corroborated that information. Coral Springs Police Chief Brad Mock noted at a press conference Wednesday evening that the case remains an active investigation and that the Department was unable to immediately provide additional information. I cannot answer any questions, he told reporters.
