A U.S. Army staff sergeant who reported for duty at a military base in Louisiana with his new bride last week was shocked to see her arrested by ICE agents shortly after their arrival.
Staff Sgt. Matthew Blank, 23, had driven from Houston, Texas, to Fort Polk with his wife Annie Ramos, 22, and his parents in time for a 2 p.m. registration appointment on Thursday April 2.
Ramos is an undocumented migrant who was brought to the U.S. by her parents when she was a toddler and had understood that she would receive a green card through her marriage, which would entitle her to apply for citizenship within three years of its receipt, as is customary under U.S. immigration law.
The group duly signed in at the bases visitors center as instructed and presented their documentation, which included Blanks military ID, their marriage license, and Ramoss Honduran passport.

(76,826 posts)...I'm still baffled by the zeal of the anti-immigration crowd.
How do they benefit by any of this? Especially in this specific case.
Why keep pursuing this approach when it's clear it is incredibly unpopular & the benefit is so inobvious.

(76,826 posts)But, those around home drove it. (Miller)
It's not working; it's terribly unpopular; it's dragging down the entire administration (that and Epstein); they backed off in reaction, then they go after a soldier's wife.
It benefits nobody & serves no purpose.
I'd think his advisors would call for a "stand down" just to preserve some political capital.

The entire country is about to end, but at least they were able to stick to the brown people.
Around forty-eight years ago, when I was starting out as a performer, I kind of figured that this whole 'racism' thing would be gone by the turn of the century.
It makes me sick to my stomach.

(4,328 posts)... was a thin veil for Trump's, and especially Miller's, bigoted desire "Make America White Again". Miller gave the green light to specially recruited sociopaths with zero compunction about ignoring the law and using unrestrained savagery to impose fear and terrorize entire big city populations into subjugation.
It hasn't quite worked out to their expectations. The majority of Americans are better and stronger than that. That's why the evil leaders of this fiasco have wisely chosen to live in a military compound. But, in the end, that ain't gonna save their worthless asses.

(3,105 posts)on how he did his paperwork and a couple other things, he could potentially get administratively separated from the military if he didn't disclose it when asked.
I know a guy who got booted because he didn't disclose that his mother came here via illegal entry. They deported his mother and then tossed him. He packed up and moved to Mexico with her even though he was born here.
