Florida cost of living surges as prices quintuple pace of growth, squeezing residents

The cost of living in Florida has accelerated at nearly five times its previous pace over the last decade, driven largely by housing, insurance and rent increases that are outstripping wages and forcing some residents to consider leaving the state.

six floor condo. Fortunately for her, her condo association has always fully funded their reserves so has not been hit with that mess.

Of course she had minimal damage from a few hurricanes (water came in through her windows one time from sideways rain) but others suffered more - mainly damages terraces. I think that was from the spin up tornados you get with hurricanes.

She also pays somewhere around $350/month for car insurance for one car. I pay $239/month for two cars in NYS. And my homeowners is dirt cheap at $144/month.
