as in, that party has controlled state politics dating back to the CIVIL WAR. The last time a Democrat won election to a Kansas US Senate seat - was also the same election when FDR became president! (Also, the last two Democrats who won the Kansas electoral college votes - FDR in '32 and '36, then LBJ in '64.) Kansas is just that solidly R.

Marshall's first election in 2020 was an 11-point win, slightly underperforming Trump. And back in 2014, a nationally favorable year for Republicans, Pat Roberts won by a similar margin over an independent candidate after the Democrat withdrew from the race.

The Pitfalls of Peace

The Lack of Major Wars May Be Hurting Economic Growth

By Tyler Cowen
The New York Times, June 13, 2014

The continuing slowness of economic growth in high-income economies has prompted soul-searching among economists. They have looked to weak demand, rising inequality, Chinese competition, over-regulation, inadequate infrastructure and an exhaustion of new technological ideas as possible culprits.

An additional explanation of slow growth is now receiving attention, however. It is the persistence and expectation of peace.

The world just hasn’t had that much warfare lately, at least not by historical standards. Some of the recent headlines about Iraq or South Sudan make our world sound like a very bloody place, but today’s casualties pale in light of the tens of millions of people killed in the two world wars in the first half of the 20th century. Even the Vietnam War had many more deaths than any recent war involving an affluent country.

Counterintuitive though it may sound, the greater peacefulness of the world may make the attainment of higher rates of economic growth less urgent and thus less likely. This view does not claim that fighting wars improves economies, as of course the actual conflict brings death and destruction. The claim is also distinct from the Keynesian argument that preparing for war lifts government spending and puts people to work. Rather, the very possibility of war focuses the attention of governments on getting some basic decisions right — whether investing in science or simply liberalizing the economy. Such focus ends up improving a nation’s longer-run prospects.

Continues…

... and, prior to President Psychopants starting a – conflict of interests, shall we call it? – Iran posed NO threat to "national security", and, though they're justifiably pissed off now, they don't have, nor did they ever have, sufficient means to present any such threat.
Even his most mindless and mendacious supporters, like Marshall, know full well that Trump has gone over the high side and into the rhubarb mentally, and that he's never been all that far from the edge of batshit crazy to begin with. As I've observed before, Der Republikanische Partei is determined to rule over the ashes of whatever's left when Satan finally summons Trump to return home. Which, I'm sure we can all agree, can't happen soon enough.

Do they need reminding them about suicide bombers?

Or

Drones?

How can national security handle these situations when they broke the system with their lies and stupidity. Waging a war with no reason except to play the stock markets.

They be winning biggly on stocks, Americans not so much!
