Acyn @AcynHegseth: To the American mediaI just can't help but notice the endless stream of garbage, the relentlessly negative coverage you cannot resist peddling. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what side some of you are actually on. It's incredibly unpatriotic.
Jesus entered a synagogue and healed a man with a withered hand. The Pharisees came to watch. As the scripture reads, they were there to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath so that they might accuse Him.
You see, the Pharisees the so-called and self-appointed elites of their time were there to witness, to write everything down, and to report. But their hearts were hardened, even though they witnessed a literal miracle. It didnt matter to them. They were only there to explain away the goodness in pursuit of their agenda. As the passage ends, the Pharisees went out and immediately held a council against him, plotting how they might destroy him.
Our press are like these Pharisees

...here's this shit again where yet another white supremacist is pushing off on the Jewish faith; this one denigrating yet another religious group to make a derogatory defense of their decidedly amoral actions.
The thing about the Pharisees, they were about strict adherence to their religious beliefs, and have been identified by scholars as ONE of the significant Jewish groups, along with myriad other Jewish religious beliefs in that era.
There is, of course, no credible analogy between the Pharisees and what we regard as the general 'press' at any time in modern history; definitely no comparison with an ancient parable 'reported' hundreds of years after the event related in the bible which Hegseth so blithely represents as the gospel truth.
The press of Jesus time was a mix of scribes, Pharisees, elders, chief priests, and other religious leaders who interpreted and communicated religious law and doctrine to the public. Pharisees put significant weight on the oral tradition, believing this interpretive framework helped clarify written Law.
Moreover:
"...not all Pharisees opposed Jesus. In John 3:1-21, Nicodemus, a member of the Pharisees, respectfully meets with Jesus to inquire about His message. Later, Nicodemus defends Jesus right to a fair hearing (John 7:50-51) and is involved in His burial (John 19:39-42); as well as Paul the Apostle who was said to have experienced a dramatic encounter with the risen Christ on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1-22). One key belief was the acknowledgment of the resurrection of the dead and the existence of angels and spirits (Acts 23:8). source:
It's far easier, and much more credible to imagine Trump as the Roman prefect of Judaea who opportunistically sentenced Jesus to death by crucifixion because, politics. Or his boss, Emperor Tiberius whose reclusive and paranoid rule provided Pontius Pilate free reign. Nothing approaching truth in Hegseth's misappropriating slur that Donald Trump has "healed a man with a withered hand," in any way, ever.

The movie of this timeline we're living would be the kind of Hollywood disaster that destroys entire studios.

Most of us would have left the theater by now.

Not one questioned or mentioned it.
I'd like to see that asshole perform for an empty room.

...still blocking them after a court said to let them in.
Of course the 'just sat there' because, they only had the questions they either had pre-approved, or the ones that were written for them by the Pentagon press office.
