Don't ya know, if the Trump admin is behind this, it's most certainly bound to be fucked up.

Send em, but don't feed em. Unbelievable

Oops.... Another oversight.

Of course, this is what happens when you don't plan ahead before taking precipitate action -- because the idea of "thinking things through" is as completely alien to your political dogma as it is to your abilities.

Ready ... Fire ! Uh, Aim !

Each of them pays into a fund to supply their food. On the other hand, I suspect the reason for the meager rations is a logistical problem where supply ships are not getting to the fleet with an adequate quantity of food. If so, then the chiefs and officers aren't getting fed any better than the crew.

This info came directly from a navy ship food service officer. The amount per sailor was more than enough to feed the personnel on smaller ships, but not enough to feed crews on larger ships like aircraft carriers that can carry between 4 and 6,000 people.

I also believe the food service officer can buy food when a ship is in port. No port calls might be part of the problem, too.

Both large, and small ships can replenish food and fuel. Fuel via CONREP(Connected Replenishment), and food via VERTREP (Verticle Replenishment). There is no excuse what so ever for any of our ships to not be able to feed crewmembers properly.

I've worked many a CON/VERT Rep in my 20 years and 4 ships, doing 7 of 9 deployments to the Middle East during the Gulf War/War on Terror. We NEVER had it that bad. The COs of these ships bear responsibility, as well as the entire upper chain of command all the way to the Commander In Chief.

on a formula. Maybe the formula has changed, but I can assure you knowing how food is managed on a ship is far down in the weeds of Navy budgeting.

Germans were ecstatic when ever they took ground from the Allies and could get their hands on American K-Rations. Germans were living on less than 1500 calories a day in Europe, and less that 1000 calories a day in Africa where supply lines were compromised. The allies won that war more than partially on having better fed troops. Germans were eating stale bread and soup broths and whatever else they could scrounge from farms and villages.
