Since the beginning of this diabolical disaster, they were all in on Trump and his master plan of destruction.
Nothing Trump could do or did? They stood idly by and watched him gain control. After we saw him destroy our countrys reputation in his first term, they all stood firm behind him. When things like Covid happened, they believed his words of nonsensical lies. They applauded him when he insulted other people who did not agree with his lies along with war heroes, the disabled and women.
Then came J-6, they were jumping up and down to defend him as they said that it was a peaceful protest and it was the other side who caused the riot.
We watch them stand behind him when he lost his lawsuit for raping Mrs. Carroll then came his convictions of fraud and obstruction of stealing of classified documents. They stood by him saying that it was wrong for them to go after Trump because he was a good person and didnt do anything wrong.
Move to today or the beginning of his 2nd illegitimate term. He is 10x worse than his first term. He is more careless and has become more dangerous each day. Within a year he has manage to strip our government down to a minimum. He has put his own incompetent people into his insane administration.
He stole money from the taxpayers of America and gave out massive tax breaks to the rich. He is attempting to steal money for himself by grifting and using our DOJ to sue the government for money that he thinks he deserves.
I could go on, but we all agree that he is a liar and those who voted for him are still in on his lies and corruption, believing everything he says.
With all that said! Now that he wont produce the Epstein files and started a war with Iran? His staunch supporters are running away from him. They want us to forgive them after all Trump has done. They say that they didnt vote for this!
But there is one problem with this notion of backtracking? Where were they when all the other bullshit was happening? Why now?
I dont understand, but I also dont want to hear them say theyre sorry or whimper about the lies he told. They didnt care then and I dont care now!
I believe in time, theyll crawl back to Trump and beg him to bring them into his circle of evil. They always have and will defend him even though they says they are not.
Its who they are! The facts prove their willingness to protect their own wellbeing. To hear these people wallow in their own ignorance of pity is an insult and an act of desperation. And they will never be on the right of history or justice.
They are not worthy of any respect from me nor are they ever going gain any sympathy. They made their bets along time ago and it was the beginning of their downfall of humility and honesty.
In the end, they thought they had a career in the life of Trump and they were lied to just like everyone else. They will come and go, but deep down they continue to see Trump as their own leader. That is where the problem lies? Long after Trump is gone, the will continue to exist with their own lies and propaganda machine in support of a different kind of evil!

(1,331 posts)They were told over and over what he would do.
They may have not voted for the outcome of now but chaos and instability has been his trademark.
My maga in laws have gone very quiet this year. But I am not forgetting.

(11,314 posts)I am actually awaiting the 'we need to move on' claptrap from those that are fully complicit in the orange gibbon's regime.
You brought this on us. We are not going to forget that.
Or, forgive that.

(1,331 posts)Back in 2004 there was a discussion about Iraq and I said Bush will go down in history as the worst president for invading.
You could have heard a pin drop everyone just kind of moved away from me and my wife, I looked at her and said guess that did not go over well.
Overheard one brother in law call me a fucking liberal a bit later. The also said I was a traitor to my country, not one of them has served in the military.
My wife's sister called a few days later and complained about what I said. Then said we cannot talk politics.
I still get a little chuckle remembering that day.
I have since stated to my in laws I have revised my worst president in history.

(22,732 posts)GW Bush was the worst president in history at the time. Who knew Trump would come along and steal the title from him!

(411 posts)at a family gathering in 2006 after my dad passed. My little cousin, then about 19 years old, was enlisting and everyone was cheering him on. I tried to give him some real talk about Iraq/Afghanistan, telling him about depleted uranium and other horrors. That party was the first crack in what would become a yawning chasm in my family over politics. (Funny thing is, that boy ended up serving two tours with distinction, has since retired from the military and has a beautiful family...but he's one of the only ones that still talks to me. I helped raise him from the time he was a baby and I think he was smart enough to realize I was trying to make sure he was at least making an informed choice.)

Then, the work gets started.
Second, make them who harmed others and wrecked it he nation must pay for it. That includes Putin, Musk, Thiel, Anderson and the rest of foreign powers, oligarchs and stooges.

(17,513 posts)...especially since billionaires control so much of our media, have nonstop access to the eyeballs and ears of the American people as well as the levers of power within this administration, and have shown what they would do with it all (and to human beings) once they had that access and control.
I'm not sure how many of us are aware of what Elon Musk and DOGE did, so we're going to need to keep talking about that. People who don't feel they were affected by it all need to know that they were very much affected.

(9,071 posts)They can't fathom how doing A and not doing B will result in C being a shitstorm. Like Trump, they are ignorant, willfully or because they have natural limits to what they can learn and utilize to extrapolate probable outcomes. They operate only on their 'feels' which makes them all too easy to manipulate.
I never thought of myself as particularly bright, tho people who know me have always insisted the opposite. In my old age, I am so disheartened at how damned dumb so many people are. My major failing and blind side is my tendency to try to find good in everyone. But time has shown me the folly of my faith that everyone can think. Evidence of so many being so damned dumb has been difficult for me to accept.
Finally accepting the reality of so much ignorance makes me wonder if we are two different species, one able to connect dots and draw logical conclusions from information and observations available, caring about how likely outcomes of various courses of action will impact the whole of society, and one species that cannot even see the dots and just operates on reactions, like big amoebas, blind to possible bad outcomes of some actions.
In my old age, I am beginning to wonder if the survival of humans will be determined by simple math. Is the percentage of sentient humans greater, or do the amoebas have us greatly outnumbered? Will their blind reactive natures be the end of all of us and our beautiful little world? Or will we manage to save us and everything on this planet that is being eaten alive? Because it's not just about saving US democracy anymore. The amoebas are allowing a monstrous predator species disguised as humans to kill our host.*
* by way of an apology and disclaimer, I must admit I am only half way thru my morning coffee, tho lately, there doesn't seem to be enough coffee in the world to help me make sense of the carnage going on.

(53,800 posts)and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. Its a wonder I havent abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart. Anne Frank.
I am mostly in agreement with your thoughtful, well written post, AtillatheBlonde, but
We cant give up on the hope that, good will eventually triumph over evil.

(9,071 posts)Have known so many really good people in my many years. But the power is in the wrong hands. History has shown the pendulum always swings, but science is warning we may not have the time to wait for it to change direction this time. I figure it won't happen in what years I have left.
I do hold hope when I see more young people picking up the banners my generation has dropped due to natural attrition. But the other species walking as humans are a seemingly overwhelming number and resources.

(1,984 posts)When they say that, ask them which one of Obama's or Biden's Democratic situations are you refering to since "you all" were so "Obama or Biden or Democrat" involved corruption then!
You got the idea. Put it to them.
