For over a year now, Jerry Conlogue, a veteran and resident of Lincoln City, Oregon, has spent the noon hour every day at the corner of US 101 and 22nd St. to protest the Trump administration, rain or shine.
It was a tradition he began alonejust a man, a corner, and a sign. Specifically, a Hands off the VA! sign. But many people have joined him over time. Shar Walbaum of Indivisible Lincoln City shared his story with us two months ago (see article).
He got a special turnout45 by our count on April 12 to commemorate the first anniversary, and 366th day, of his protest.
Hes taken up the habit of counting honks of agreement and encouragement from drivers-by. The record, Jerry says, is 470 honks within one hour.
