(72,372 posts)I got so tired of seeing ball runners commit the colossal stupidity of celebrating a touchdown while they were still five yards or so out. Not that they stopped and spiked the ball on the playing field instead of in the end-zone. But that they would slow down, dance and weave, or wave the ball in the air triumphantly, only to get clobbered by a defensiveman before he could cross the line.
When we would run foot races in gym class in school, the coach always told us, run flat out, 100% until you cross the finish line, and not a second or an inch before. How is it people who compete in sports professionally didn't learn that very simple lesson?
I know there are some highly intelligent athletes out there. But the meatheads and the blockheads seem to outnumber them.
