"This is happening in schools across the country.. the kids have no resources to process their trauma" Rep Jamie Raskin

About last night’s scrambling from gun fire at White House reporters dinner ..

Rep Jamie Raskin (D-MD) makes a critical point on CNN:

“This is happening in schools across the country.. the kids have no resources to process their trauma”

How would a 6 or 10 or 14yo handle the situation?

Why would the president's shooting be more important than the lives of a classroom of children? Both should be part of a larger discourse to end gun violence.

what the kids experience is many times worse. They often, not just heard shots in the distance and for several minutes experienced fear, the kids often saw their peers and teachers killed. It also took far longer to secure the scene. Here, the ballroom was never actually not secure.

I get that the media and their guests went through a terrible experience. I hope their memory of their fear helps them understand what so many kids are living with. It might make them understand what the Congress went through on January 6. ( I still don't get Republican members not condemning the pardons!)

that is the sick value system the wealthy and powerful believe in....you common man are not important and can be used to their demand, critical thinking is not to be taught in public schools..just ask Texas that took it out of their public schools in the late 1990,s

How politicians and judges in this country would feel if they had the same level of protection school children and the rest of us get in our normal lives. If all that separated them and potential shooters was a locked door and surveillance cameras and police and medical personnel were 10-20 minutes away maybe they’d feel different about this country’s gun culture.

For all the kids in school. They need it more than pedo Trump does.

At least the pedo has the Secret Service to protect him. What do those kids in class have to protect them?
