Mrs. Betty Bowers on the tone of democrats ❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️

Odd, how a lone gunman failed to even enter a targeted room and no one was harmed—and Republicans go HYSTERICAL over the “tone” of Democrats. And yet heavily armed and masked fascists murdered two people at point-blank range in the streets of Minneapolis—and not a peep about the “tone” of the right.

I don't see how any "decent" person could ever again vote for any Republican. Over the years, we've had Republican friends and it was never a big deal but now there is no way we could be friends with Republicans....they don't seem like Americans to me!

Apparently neither side thinks the environment or even common decency in animal welfare matter. Nor women’s rights - i.e. the right to abort human babies, family planning education and birth control access. Nor importantly serious separation of church and state.
And no more war. And regulations on the private sector, strengthening the constitution etc.

Common decency in animal welfare such as not burning animals alive because cheap fast food requires the extreme cruelty of small cage sizes which lead to diseases and pandemics, which then require that animals be burnt alive as efficient culling. And such crises are hardest on the worst off.

And given what we know about the depth of animal cognition, that is obscene. But it explains why society treats the poor and homeless as it does. It is also why people treat people vilely if they can get away with labeling it art or a game or an experiment or therapy.

I gotta say I avoid the wing of the left (that Jacobin type and the Ezra Klein Yimbies) that is tacitly signaling that it is okay to use earth as a giant theme park/toilet/parking lot and rubbish bin and animals as “things” to pack into factory farms and wetmarkets with climate change (and science broadly), deforestation, human biomass making most of earth’s biomass, population explosion/human overpopulation as irrelevant.

That list is in no representative of my side.
I have paid my dues to both the left and science and continue to. But that list is in no way representative of my side

I am generally closer to the Chris Ketcham/Yasha Levine/Current Affairs left and the Jacobin, Vox, The Atlantic etc alarm and annoy me.

One species should not destroy an entire planet this way. It is just crass.
And marijuana legalization should always be strictly decoupled from any parasitic technocreeps/yimbies forcing ubiquitous space grabs casually taking people’s resources the way humans as a whole have treated animal habitats.

The parasitic technosphere (and this doesn’t touch on the psychological drain the panopticon imposes):

If that was sarcasm, nicely done . I blinked a bit over that list :“food” (?) and “opportunity”.
I read it in rising indignation that climate change is not even on the list.

You have otoh nailed the GOP.

You know I was never really sarcasm challenged in the routine world. The last 15 years of alt right kayfabe plus less easy to assess Dadaism or a Marbury Lens have made it all very confusing.

The world of spooks bleeding into the civilian world is a bit baffling.

A small dash of humor is not bad for us on the left I suppose. Maybe we are a bit pompous and self-serious. Otoh those guys are swindlers.
And everything has Ai kudzu vines all over it.

I have rarely met people that ott. I have met nice Republican women and decent white working class men who are probably Republican.

But I do think conservatives irl can inadvertently con one into kowtowing to generally terrible ideas over something simpler, faster and less insane with less collateral damage all around.

I once stayed briefly with a family of genuinely nice Bible bangers. But it is still hard to be certain that such people wouldn’t be inclined to sign off on utterly terrible contracts with our creepy industrial sector that screws over all parties - those who agreed and those like me who would be horrified at the notion of trusting those tech creeps.

I have noticed that conservatives who are nice tend to be overly agreeable and its not a good fit w rage-against-the-machine lefties merely trying to be on coldly civil terms with douchey systems. And well…porcupine’s dilemma and all.
I do think civility and cordial relations with people of opposite political orientation is easy. But non-superficial cooperation is hard

All this observation is tedious. It has closed off a legitimate avenue of existence I used to have where on sidesteps tedious debates and does stuff that is better than various terrible ideas conservatives and centrists have. But back when it was easier to quietly avoid drivel wo making a scene.

My dad’s relatively conservative - we are Indian and he is not particularly religious, but he is Hindu. I am not - I am an atheist. We get along really well, but I certainly don’t overshare unnecessary things - well only my marijuana use really. I could. But it would lead to a long and tedious conversation which would go nowhere.

Otoh we are close enough that if these douchey systems get problematic beyond a point I could easily ask him for help wrt predatory mercenary stuff that is getting harder to handle solo.. let’s see..
Was just listening to one of these creepy local misogynists on his bike splintering my eardrums at 9:54-9:55 pm (0000F5D7). Another vicious misogynist at 10:46 pm.
