Influenced by "Internet Influencers," Gen Z is losing the ability to communicate in a normal manner...

Gen Z is speaking. And, it's not a casual means of communication. Not at all. If anything, it's performative. Emphatic. The person speaking is doing so in a rapid fire manner, repeatedly punctuating their words to the extent that they sound almost as if they are chirping at you. And, stranger still, this means of communication is accompanied by constant finger and hand gestures, sometimes at chest level, sometimes at eye level, always intended to be seen by the camera. Wait...What? What camera? That's right, what Gen Z is doing is something they have picked up off the internet, a means of communication used by "Internet Influencers" adapted to catch as many eyeballs as possible, hopefully going viral. Except that right now, in the real world, it's just you and Gen Z speaking...And they are attempting to influence you, trying to get you to hit that like button - despite the fact that there is none. You be the judge as to whether or not any of this makes sense.

Wonder how many naive types this one will get though.

There also seems to be something of a disconnect with the contents of the OP's post and the contents of the video.

"and that's because all of our gestures are mimetic" // and pointing out that certain people will call something "cringe" simply because young women are doing it.

both with my own kids, their friends, as well as my nieces and nephews.

Lots of stupid videos on trends and commentary. Related, also no sign of anyone discussing (let alone embracing) 'chinamaxxing', or other recent supposedly viral trends with teens. Those I know have a lot less social media presence than the folks I know in their 20-40s. The big thing is discord text / voice chats with their friends.

I have 3 Gen Z kids. They all speak like we all did at their age, before life taught us that no one cares what anyone with a net worth under 10 million thinks.
