Can someone let the AP know that violating court orders is not a sign of "executive power. " It is a sign of contempt, lawlessness and authoritarianism.

(15,820 posts)To call violating court orders "executive power" -- instead of a violation of constutional rule of law -- is to normalize and validate this lawless authoritarianism.

(7,000 posts)I am sick of this shit. The media has had more than ten years to figure out how to report objectively on Trump and they continue to fail.

(15,820 posts)Even the so-called "liberal" long established media is a profit-driven business.
Trump's lawsuits and threats have had an impact, and now his multi-billionaire allies are buying huge chuks of the media landscape.

A) a thoroughly corrupt President flaunting all laws and enriching himself personally beyond the limits of human imagination
B) A Congress that sits idly by, turning over essentially all of its power to this one corrupt man
C) A judicial system that is largely trying to uphold the Constitution, but keeps running into a Supreme Court that never met the Constitution.
D) a "free press" commonly referred to in founder times as "The Fourth Estate" that was envisioned as the ultimate backstop for the people to maintain control over their government, but the majority of that "Estate" is owned by a small cohort of fascists that are using the levers of government to funnel the wealth of the nation directly into their pockets.
They most certainly would not be surprised by A). That's why they set up Congress, the courts, and the press as safeguards to prevent ever having a person act like a king.
Regarding B), C), and D), I think they would be horrified by all three, but probably most disappointed in the Supreme Court and the media.

(225 posts)This is a power that the Supreme Court took for themselves in Marbury vs Madison in 1803. If the Congress had any guts (ha!ha!) they could reclaim that power and pass legislation stating that this cannot be reviewed by the courts.

We seem to have forgotten how we became a nation in the first place.
Which shows me just how well that programming worked.

(805 posts)Caribbean. The press refers to these as "strikes" and "extra judicial killings", when they should be using the word "murders", because that's what they are.
White washing is just another form of disinformation, and it's got to stop.
Justice matters.

(2,510 posts)Republican Senators, Republican House Members, and Republican Supreme Court Justices are soooooo stupid, they don't realize that there is NO Legislative Branch, and NOJudicial Branch in a Dictatorship/Tyranny. And ALL of their sorry asses are gonna get thrown under the bus, same as he has done with everyone his entire life, when they outgrow their usefulness.......

It's making the same mistake over and over and expecting the novel result that counts as wisdom, in this mal-administration.

They've just re-imposed slavery on 3/5 of the states. Ironic.

(132,839 posts)At least lots of the major papers. So we all huddle around the CBC public broadcasting network. The right wing in Canada is going to try and get rid of it.
