among world leaders today for his courage, concern for his country, service to his country and to democracy, and development of defense systems that are useful beyond Ukraine. I don't know how he keeps up his spirits, humanity, and courage in the face of so many challenges that he and his nation face.

Under Zelenskyy's leadership, Ukraine is preserving democracy not only for Ukraine, but for Europe and as an example for the rest of the world. Maybe belief in and commitment to those democratic and humane principles are what gives him strength to keep going.

13. Beware of the Trump ballroom/bunker plan.

It is not just his ego wanting a grand (and tacky looking) place for entertaining.

The ballroom is an excuse for creating the underground bunker. There is a reason why he wants that bunker. Is it for protection from foreign attacks that his actions might trigger? Maybe. Protection from other world tyrants if he breaks out of lockstep with them (e.g. Putin)? Maybe.

I believe that Trump wants the bunker as a fortress for hiding from accountability when MAGAs lose political power. He wants a safe place from which to continue commanding the nation. From there he (and a MAGA successor) could order subversive actions, or even conduct the civil war that MAGAs have been longing for.

AI Overview The Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) is a fortified, 5-story World War II-era bunker located under the White House East Wing, built in 1942 for Franklin D. Roosevelt. It acts as a secure, high-level command bunker with thick concrete walls, steel doors, and independent air filtration for emergencies.

16. Would a WWII structure withstand today's technology?
Sun May 3, 2026, 12:12 PM

Could it be breached with the tech ability to monitor phone calls and even monitor keystrokes on a phone or computer? Are the electronics in the existing structure connected to other computerized systems in the government?

A separate bunker with protections against connections to other systems would be more secure.

What might be in the design of the Trump structure that would allow people inside the bunker to attack people outside of it? Maybe even at great distances.

With the existing structure in the White House, other people in the building might interfere with retreating there when the moment comes for using it. With a separate bunker, anyone not approved would be unable to approach it as designated ones entered.

My specifics might be off, but there could be advantages in a new, separate bunker that we are not aware of. Otherwise, Trump could just use the existing one. There s a reason why he wants his own new one. I don't think it is just his ego.
