(4,160 posts)is Republicans and their supporters rarely suffer with the consequences of their bad decisions. Scapegoating Democrats for their failings never seems to have any real lasting consequences for Republicans. Democrats always seem to clean up the mess only for Republicans to mess it up again.
If we're going to make any progress then we need to come up with policies and fortitude to not clean up their messes. You want work for medicaid rules, fine, deal with the hospital closures and medical system shutdowns in the states and areas that implement them. Don't want illegal immigrants in your state or county? Fine, pay for the extra enforcement personnel, storage and transportation costs to humanely do as you see fit even if that means you're local workforce is decimated and your property taxes and local sales taxes are raised to pay for it. You want a strong military to project power? Fine, work out that cost and assign it to every American including corporations as a minimum federal tax. Want to run up the federal debt so you don't have to suffer for your terrible fiscal decisions? Fine, all Congress critters who pass budgets with deficits get their pay docked to pay for some percentage of the final deficit.
And on and on. We're like a beat spouse who gets the blame for the beatings. Sorry Blue Dots but I've had enough trying to pander to these folks who make bad decisions.
