Federal Judge Blocks Trump Administrations DOGE Cuts After Finding It Used Race & Gender As Primary Factors - UPoliticsJudge McMahons ruling determined that the DOGEs grant cuts were executed on the basis of race, gender, and other protected characteristicsrepresenting a violation of both the First and Fifth Amendments. Her decision concluded that the DOGE staffers lacked the jurisdiction to make the grant terminations and blocked them from going through.
Judge McMahon said in her decision: Treating Black civil-rights history, Jewish testimony about the Holocaust, the oft-forgotten Asian American experience, the shameful treatment of the children of Native tribes, or the mere mention of a woman as a marker of lack of merit or wastefulness is not lawful.
She also went on to call out the decision to cut funding to projects related to the Holocaust because they focused on the experience of women during Nazi persecution, arguing that with the rise of anti-semitism, doing so is uniquely dangerous.
A federal judge just exposed the discriminatory truth behind DOGEs grant cuts - The Root via MSN
In addition to thousands of folks losing their jobs, DOGE was also responsible for the mass cancellation of thousands of Congress-approved grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), which U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon has officially ruled unlawful.
What should be most concerning about the decision to people of color, McMahon also took issue with DOGEs questionable review process, which she described as blatant viewpoint discrimination.
Weve been keeping you up to date with all of Trumps anti-diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, which have targeted Black and other minorities at the federal level.

(5,291 posts)The Trump agenda - his Cabinet - the SCOTUS - the GOP Congress - his enablers and his voting base - was/is all about the hatred, cruelty, racism and misogyny.
Look at the people you know that support Trump - am I wrong?

(8,856 posts)Because I've said (and always believed) that a society's temperament is in many ways influenced by that of its leadership, and that RESPONSIBLE leadership seeks to lead by noble ideas and principles, rather than inspiring the cruelest, bases, most dementedly malevolent of mentalities.
I believe the latter poisons the minds of some, creates discord and division, and influences the rise in hate based sentiment, particularly among those faced with mental challenges or more prone to reprehensible actions
and ESPECIALLY when sentiments such as intolerance and exclusion, become not only the national discourse, but EMBEDDED in party ideology, platform, policy, and excused, if not APPROVED BY LAW.
That's why I like the way Judge McMahon, in her decision, summed up the totality of Donald Trump's and Elon Musk's assault upon Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Frankly, I sometimes wonder (from responses to such discussions, or sometimes the lack thereof) whether some think DEI is just a Black thing. McMahon reminds us that it is not. That Trump and Musk have targeted us all.
That if we are outraged by any part of it, we SHOULD be outraged by the whole.
