The only thing more satisfying than the removal of his name from the Kennedy Center is the unwell Orange Man-Baby's entirely predictable, seething, unhinged, self-pitying, incoherent, raging, angry, vengeful meltdown reacting to the news. Someone call a wahh-mbulance!

(236 posts)That meme that says there can be no appeal seems 100% incorrect to my eyes. Unless it's a Supreme Court ruling I suspect any decision like this has an appeal process. Yes??

(72,630 posts)But the fact is, Trump broke the law by putting his name up there without the consent of Congress. Seems like any Federal judge can rule against it. For SCOTUS to weigh in, wouldnt it have to be in the context of determining the legality of a Congressional approval or prohibition?
Of course, the six morally debased right-wing justices live for signing off on Dumps douchebaggery. So well see what happens.

(37,269 posts)A permanent injunction is a final court order that requires a party to permanently stop or perform specific actions. In the legal battles surrounding the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a federal judge issued a permanent injunction permanently barring officials from using any materials that suggest the venue is named for anyone other than John F. Kennedy.
The Kennedy Center Context
U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper issued twin rulings regarding the cultural venue, cementing two major protections:
The Permanent Injunction on Naming:
The judge ruled that the Kennedy Center board's decision to add Donald Trump's name to the official building and website was illegal without Congressional approval. The permanent injunction legally prohibits the Center from using any physical signs, digital text, press releases, or contracts that suggest the center is named for anyone other than John F. Kennedy.
The Preliminary Injunction on Closure:
The judge also issued a preliminary injunction that temporarily blocks the Trump administration's plans to temporarily shut down the venue for two years of major renovations, forcing the board to reconsider its closure plans in a lawful manner.
You can read more about the court's final orders in the coverage from Courthouse News and CBS News.

(100 posts)I think they should have a lottery or raffle for people to be able to remove a letter of his name from the building. what a fund raiser for the center. I want to replay it over and over while I watch his name removed. I might even crack open the bottle of champagne I have been saving for his passing for this event. I can always get another bottle as long as I get it in advance. There won't be a bottle of anything in any store on my island when the blessed news arrives

(909 posts)Its not as if he surprises us with his actions. He always projects what he is going to do, does it and then the courts try to back pedal his actions. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. If congress was around it might be different.
