1. I don't think Graham Platner is a bad person. He has been a troubled person.

It appears that some of the stuff that has come out is just lies.

they are much harder to deal with. That's usually intentional on someone's part. It's a well-known disruption method.

it appears that skulls are some of the most popular with men, and have been since the 18th century. I suppose that makes some sense, particularly with men in the military, which is a violent sort of profession anyhow.

Personally, I've never been tempted to get a tattoo. My wife, on the other hand has a cute blue dolphin on the inside of her arm, near the wrist. She got it on her 50th birthday. I neither have a prejudice for or against tattoos. They're not for me, though.

2. Yes. Voters in Maine need to flip that seat.

I hope they're ready to vote for the Democratic candidate, whoever that ends up being.

That's why I so dislike these primary race attacks on candidates. It's entirely possible to poison the minds of enough voters in the state involved and cause them not to vote or to vote for the known Republican. It's a very risky thing to do.

We'll probably know sometime on Wednesday, but since Maine is a ranked choice voting state, it could take longer than that.

Once we know who the candidate is, though, I hope we all throw our support to that candidate and stop dissing a Democrat.

Sorry about this, Mainers.

Platner is polling +33%

I doubt it will take long for the ranked choice to sort itself out if Platner gets over 50% initially

9. I don't understand why legit Dems who have concerns about one candidate

don't post instead about the excellence of their preferred candidate.

Especially in a ranked choice voting state.

There are other choices. Yes, Platner is better than Collins, but that's not the decision in Tuesday's primary.

https://ballotpedia.org/United_States_Senate_election_in_Maine,_2026

Maybe if more Democratic ink had been spilled on how Costello or Andrea LaFlamme or even Janet Mills are BETTER than Platner and should be ranked 1st or 2nd, one of those has a better chance of winning the instant run-off. For Mills, since she is known and opinions are fairly set on the KNOWN aspects of her candidacy, instead of tearing Platner down her campaign should have been highlighting her lesser known strengths and achievements. La Flamme is unlikely to win in any scenario, but a substantial number of first place votes might get some notice of her policy positions and strengths.

In short, I want to hear why I should vote FOR someone, not fear mongering that we can't select one of the candidates because he'll turn out to be a Fetterman.

n.b. I don't live in Maine and so don't get a vote. I am just puzzled why DU members are so into the negative campaigning instead of lifting up the other candidates. Is it possible that the others are WORSE? Well then I guess the only litmus test is will the D nominee support a Democrat for Senate Majority Leader; and vow to have better primary choices next time.

then in the comments someone might pipe up that they like one of the other candidates.

I'm thinking the people who dislike Platner should start more OPs about the RCV system in Maine and the benefits of ranking other candidates #1 and #2. And fewer promoting, or defending the perceived veracity of, the attacks on Platner.

and that they realize that the numerous allegations and denials of the sexual abuse of women by Trump far outweigh the behavior that Platner has in stark contrast to Trump admitted to in what was a very troubled time in his life. I think people can make a change. I hope the people of Maine will see this. It's absolutely vital that reliable Trump vote Collins be defeated.
