Keep hearing how this or that will make the wealthy leave, they never do and more keep coming.
Nobody is following Trump from NY to Florida.

. . . . and I first heard a version of "the wealthy will pack up and leave" back in 2008. I was visiting a friend of mine, when another friend of his stopped by. This man was a wealthy, gay Manhattan antiques dealer who was then in his early 70s (I was 57 at the time). The guy took a liking to me (to be honest, I think he was hitting on me), and we began chatting in depth about current events, politics, etc. He swore up and down that if Obama won the election, he and all of his wealthy7 friends and acquaintances had already made plans to live out some Ayn Rand fantasy of moving themselves and all of their assets offshore, and leave the rest to wallow in the hellscape of our own making! I called bullshit on that claim. I pointed out that they weren't living in NYC in the first place because they liked its tax rates, and that, like most of the rest of us who live here, they were here for a host of reasons, including enjoying being at the center of the business world, as well as the arts and creative worlds, and that they liked the visibility that they got from living here!

He became considerably less interested in our conversation after I said that!

And here we are, 18 years later, when I am 65 and he is now in his late 80s. Last I heard (which was a couple of months ago), he was still here!

And that's why crime rates are down? I get your point. Just a funny link between your title and the content.

We were told Mamdani would be the end of the world as we know it. Even by some Dems. Real wrath of God type stuff, Armageddon, dogs and cats living together, etc., ad nauseam. Turns out, it's not too bad.

Here's the NYC billionaires take on Mamdani.

They said they were against Mamdani because his ideas would fail. In fact, they opposed him because they were afraid his ideas would succeed.

The public would support liberal policies if the media told the truth and we weren't constantly undermined by the demand to support "centrist" crap.

When smart, dedicated people with popular progressive ideas are put in charge, things start going in the best direction for the majority of people.

You can take that anywhere in the world.

in NYC…but he loves the city..that’s his real home..but because New Yorkers hate him with the heat of a thousand suns and are decades done with his loudmouth bloviating crap, Trump does the only thing he knows how to do when his little boy feelings are hurt…he trashes the city/the people/the mayor, and yet in spite of all of Trump’s spewed venom, NYC continues to thrive…imagine that!

But it is fun to say that when Republicans left crime went down..

Crime overall has been dropping for quite some time. There is little data on the major cause or causes.
