... As a child of the fifties and sixties, when I was nine or ten, I carved a swastika on the palm of my right hand. It's still there.
I am not and never was a Nazi, though as a kid, my sister and brother and I were the the designated Germans in neighborhood war games. Everybody had male relatives who came back from WWII and Korea with all sorts of equipment and uniform parts. Also: I embroidered a big Red Star on my newsboy cap as a young hippy. I also owned and read Mao's Little Red Book. I was disillusioned though - the Sun rising in the East was NOT always Red. I am not and NEVER was a Communist, though I've read Mikail Bakunin's books, I am a touch anarchist and getting socialist as I get older.
For the love of a Democratic Congress, can we PLEASE not give Collins another term.
Further information has come to light!!!
Both Hillary Clinton and I (separately) volunteered for Barry Goldwater's Presidential campaign in 1964. Miss Rodham and I have never crossed paths, except politically. She was robbed. As was Al Gore before her.
Please give Susan Collins the rest she so needs. I am concerned.

I think it's Bernie who has put the most capital on the line.
(Rhetorical support or opposition only since I'm not a Maine voter.)

DAMN, They ain't perfect. CONDEMNED.
MEANWHILE
Felons, rapists, pedophiles, traitors, war criminals, mass murderers of young school children, blackmailers, money-launderers (for starters, he's the president) and associated violent mobs and rogue gestapo murdering cops get PARDONED.
I suggest that we focus, as does Bernie, on the OLIGARCHS controlling government and making us pay for their trillions in "welfare for the rich"

"We will defeat the oligarchy and the political system that it maintains," said Graham Platner. "The politics of Susan Collins."
By the way, the swastika was EXPROPRIATED From Buddhism and reversed. (in many ways)

For crying out loud, even the WORD was stolen from Sanskrit.

So, look in the mirror. What do you see?
A positive symbol? Or this?

(72,859 posts)... per Freud, a swastika can be just a stupid regrettable tattoo.
Nice post, by the way!

(34,921 posts)I got a tattoo hidden on a private part of my torso when I was nineteen, so if I was eaten by sharks like the famous Jaws, my body might be identified.
And as a collector of hats, I own a Russian Ushanka along with some other Russian military pins acquired in the early nineteen nineties on a trip.

(72,859 posts)... But I balanced that out by writing to the embassies of a bunch of countries in SE Asia and South America inquiring as to what they were doing to thwart Communism. The magazines and pamphlets and letters were extremely informative and they generous with key chains, pens. I didn't hear back from only four or five. The pamphlets and magazines from Republic of South Viet Nam had a small stamp on the back covers "Printed by USAID"
That's all. I swear on the Koran.

They have Governor, House Seats and Senate on their ballots.

(72,859 posts)... "Two terms and out." what has happened every six years since?
This election isn't about just Collins' Senate seat, it's about every MAGA/GOP held office right down to dogcatcher. Want to stop Gerrymandering? Elect a Democratic Legislature.

(3,149 posts)But Democrats are not going to vote for her or any Republican.
We need high turnout like we've seen in every State so far and we need every vote we can get from unaffiliated voters.

(34,921 posts)Mainers are definitely not going to sit home and not vote. The worst blizzard barely keeps them from looking for seaglass on their rocky coastline.
I love Maine. ❤️

(114,738 posts)in that the longer you hang around in either House, the more power you tentd to amass. A Senator in that term limited second term is just not going to get those plum assignments that can either shove legislation out of committee or kill it stone dead.
That's why term limits, while a good idea, were never going to work.
Perhaps a hard and fast retirement age of 80 might be a better idea, nerve conduction slowing markedly in all of us during out 70s even when the brain stays sharp, none of us is at our best after 80 and government should demand our best. Elder statesmen can still be useful in advisory capacities, just not the actual jobs. Something has to be done to evict fossilized butts from chairs they have gotten entirely too comvfy occupying long after any ability or desire to do what's right for the country just because too many voters vote for a name they recognize over one they don't.
