Trump has admitted defeat on Iran war after historic blunder

The Iran "deal" is a tacit admission of strategic defeat by the Trump administration and of a failure to achieve nearly all of his war aims.

The US and Iran have agreed to stop fighting and to open the Strait of Hormuz. Everything else is being kicked down the road over 60 days of ceasefire and beyond.

… snip …

After a war that has cost an estimated $30bn, killed thousands and destroyed hundreds of millions of dollars worth of US military hardware, have any of Trump's declared objectives been fulfilled?

Five big nos

… huge snip …

It has cost America's standing in the world dearly and left Iran potentially stronger.

It will go down as one of the greatest strategic blunders in US history.

It was a fit of ignorance and ego. No strategy involved.

And the treasury raiding to replenish them leaving us defenseless in the coming years. Four to five years or more before any of this is possible. Pretty sure some in our government consider this a success.

"episode" for decades to cadets, likely monikered "Trump's Folly", as what NOT to do.

any improvement over the treaty that Obama obtained. In fact, things are a great deal worse than they were under Obama. the Israeli government hated Obama and his deal, and persuade Trump to join them in a military attack on Iran, with disastrous results.

by this so-called deal? Having disposed of the heavyweight they are still responding to Netanyahoo's campaign against all Iranian surrogate groups and allies. After listening to the BBC interview of a top Iranian diplomat, they were firmly reasoning that the war in Lebanon must stop and also go in reverse to restore the pre-war status. This fig leaf can be torched by the Iranians whenever. The polite condescension all the news media and discussion circus provides Trump is a constant reminder how they enable this total failure. If you dispassionately eliminate the provoking dim-wittedness and vulgar spectacle and just discuss all the consequences of full governmental failure, the question would always be impeachment- front and center. Of course we lost the phony war which is only an armistice for a breather! Of course, the entire planet bleeds for Trump and his goon squad! He should never have been allowed to run for office in the first. Prohibited legally or otherwise, even by fellow Epstein potentates living in shameful servitude to mini-Nero.

One life lost would have been enough, but Trump's enablers have moved the goalposts to these absurdities and they continue. Nor are they over. Nor the BS. Nor the meltdown of all public forums into keystone cop status. Monarchs throughout history have done such harm. We were supposed to have a democracy, but too few are even raising the issue about the integrity of the vote, which is another reason we are struck with an aging narcissist using the White House out of spite as his personal latrine.

On a personal note, I am saddened that my effort to cause Trump to reflect on Final Judgment has utterly failed to move him to anything other than more rabid hypocrisy. His self-judgment is an incredible immolation of human decency, a temporary triumph of lawless hypocrisy. Very temporary.

But it's not yet, even so, for Trump to turn it all around and repent, despite his refusal to believe such is possible. It is the only "amazing" unprecedented thing he could accomplish in his whole twisted life.

The ticking of his heart is the drumbeat of doom.
