Trump Loaded Up on Abbott Laboratories Stock Before His DOJ Dropped Criminal Probe
Abbott, which donated $500,000 to the presidents inaugural fund, faced an investigation stemming from alleged deadly contamination at one of its baby formula plants in Michigan.

Common Dreams, July 02, 2026
US President Donald Trump last year purchased hundreds of thousands of dollars of Abbott Laboratories stock before his Justice Department dropped a years-long criminal investigation into the company, which was accused of misconduct after infant hospitalizations and deaths were linked to one of its baby formula factories.
The stock purchases were revealed in the presidents annual financial disclosure report, which spans 927 pages and shows thousands of trades valued at over $1 billion. Trumps first purchase of Abbott stock last year was made in late September, and the president bought around $500,000 worth of shares in total in 2025, according to the nonprofit media organization More Perfect Union.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that top decision makers at the Department of Justice shut down the criminal investigation into Abbottwhich donated $500,000 to Trumps inaugural fundeven though some prosecutors believed they had evidence to criminally charge the company under a law they have used to pursue other businesses for allegedly selling contaminated foods.

The Food and Drug Administration received reports of at least nine infant deaths linked to baby formula produced at Abbotts Sturgis plant, which the company temporarily shut down amid fears of dangerous contamination. The Justice Department launched its investigation into Abbott, the largest infant formula manufacturer in the US, in 2023, under the administration of former President Joe Biden.

To get to the constitutional experts fee level, the serial child sex criminal and Glorious Traitors best friend would need about $4 million. That is outside Trump's credit limit, so that's baseline for what it cost to get a sweetheart deal from US Attorney Alex Acosta and then-pretzeldent Baby Doc Bush.

The Epstein protection goes back to the time Pruneface Reagan, who gave Bill Barr his big break. Remember, Bill's father, Donald Barr, the headmaster of The Dalton School in Manhattan who hired college drop-out Jeffrey Epstein to teach the elite's children.
The Ties That Bind Jeffrey Epstein, William Barr & Donald Trump
Todd Neikirk
Hill Reporter, May 19, 2019
During Attorney General, William Barrs confirmation hearing, he was mostly peppered with questions about how he would handle the Mueller Report. Senator Ben Sasses (R-NE) questioning, however, diverged from the pack. Sasse asked Barr about the lenient sentence given out to billionaire pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. The future Attorney General told Sasse that he would look into the matter.
This, however, was not the first connection between Barr and his family and the disgraced pedophile. In 1973, Barrs father Donald, the headmaster at Manhattans Dalton School, hired Epstein as a calculus and physics teacher.
While hiring Epstein, a noted mathematics genius, was not strange on its face, the hire was unusual for a number of reasons. Epstein had not earned a college degree as he dropped out of New Yorks prestigious Cooper Union. The other odd circumstance was that the new teacher was only 20 years of age.
Apparently, the hire was a successful one. The New Yorker wrote in a 2003 profile on Epstein, he was something of a Robin WilliamsinDead Poets Society type of figure, wowing his high-school classes with passionate mathematical riffs. Epsteins mathematical skills caught the eye of Bear Stearns chairman, Alan Ace Greenberg, whose son attended the Dalton School. Greenberg hired Epstein as an options trader and the former teacher was able to amass a fortune.

Barr mustve seen something in that young man, otherwise theres no logical rationale for the hire, besides tradecraft.
Epstein survivor: US version of royalty is billionaire class
by Sarah Davis
Politico, February 20, 2026
Annie Farmer, a survivor of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, called for the U.S. to go after billionaires connected to Epsteins crimes after former Prince Andrew was arrested by British authorities on Thursday morning.
In this country, it feels like our system prioritizes profit over all else, and so our version of royalty is really the billionaire class. Im just really hoping we can follow the U.K.s lead and hold our own royal class, these billionaires, accountable, Farmer told CNNs Kaitlan Collins on Thursday evening.
Farmer said she hoped the U.S. would follow the U.K.s lead and prosecute billionaires involved in Epsteins crimes. She and her sister, Maria Farmer, are both Epstein victims.
It is complicated because what weve seen from the DOJ has left me with little faith that they will do the right thing, Annie Farmer said. That has not occurred, but I do think that public pressure means a lot, and I think if they continue to feel the pressure that I believe they are now, that they may be forced to act.

Pruneface shakes with young Bill Barr. His dad, Donald Barr, hired college drop-out Jeffrey Epstein to teach at the Dalton School.

Pruneface shakes with young John Roberts. He and his co-conspirators have shredded the US Constitution and more on behalf of Epstein's best friend, Donald J Trump. Worst, yet, he has no plans to quit doing so any time soon.
The Honorable Coleman A. Young called Ronald Reagan, "Pruneface," after the Dick Tracey villain, back in the '70s.
The late Mayor of Detroit, a great Democrat, a union member, a Black US Army officer in World War II, absolutely pegged Reagan and his loves who haunt us in the present day.
For the record: Pruneface was a NAZI. And so are Trump and the two loves of Pruneface who keep Trump pee-resident.

Bottom Line: It's why they hate the Constitution of the United States of America: The rich continue to get richer off war without end -- until We the People show up.

(4,236 posts)Mainly for the exposure. If accurate this a really bad one for Trump because it involves babies dying. If there's one thing that pretty much everyone agrees with, it's that when giant corporations cause the death of infants due to greed and/or negligence, it pisses people off.
But also for more personal reasons insofar as I want to share it widely on social media, however, I've been burned by putting too much trust in a Common Dreams-sourced story. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but won't trumpet out their reporting unless I get confirmation from larger sources

A major NYT article is a lot more convincing to the average (other) person. And these facts, if accurate, are most CERTAINLY worthy of something like that
Also I feel like any time I post Common Dreams links on Facebook, nobody else EVER sees it/comments/reacts. I think FB suppresses broadcasting on posts with articles from distinctly liberal sources, but that may just be me being paranoid.

'Trump filing shows he took in about $1.2 billion from crypto businesses last year'
Excerpt: "The 927-page disclosure form paints a stark, if incomplete picture of the massive growth of the president's wealth since taking office last January through a web of business interests many of which have benefited from the policy moves of Trump's own government. Trump has insisted that his sons direct his finances but the arrangement rejects the conflict of interest protections that his recent predecessors in office had instituted."

Additional Prairieland Defendants To Be Sentenced on July 1, One Week After Federal Court Imposed Shocking 30-100 Year Sentences, Followed By Press Conference
Prairieland Defendants / News for immediate release
June 29, 2026
One Trial Defendant, Two Defendants Who Took Non-Cooperating Plea Deals, and Four Defendants Who Took Cooperating Plea Deals Will Be Sentenced on Wednesday
FORT WORTH, TX One week after a Fort Worth federal court imposed shocking and unprecedented 30-100 year sentences for nine Prairieland defendants convicted in March, the US District Court will sentence another seven defendants on Wednesday, July 1. Trial defendant Ines Soto, convicted of rioting, conspiracy to use an explosive, and providing material support to terrorists, will be sentenced by Judge Reed OConnor, the same judge who sentenced four Prairieland defendants last week. Judge OConnor will also sentence two defendants who took non-cooperating plea dealsJoy Rowan Gibson and Rebecca Morgan.
Judge OConnor relied on a deterrence rationale when imposing the draconian sentences last week against Prairieland defendants. With deep and long-standing ties to the Federalist Society, he employed rarely-used terrorism enhancements last week to trigger mandatory minimum prison terms and additionally ordered their sentences to be served consecutively instead of concurrently. Notably, Judge OConnor sentenced Daniel Rolando Sanchez Estrada, who wasnt even present at the noise demonstration, to 30 years in prison for moving a box of First Amendment-protected literature and art unrelated to the case from one location to another.
US District Judge Mark Pittmana Trump appointee, founding member of the Fort Worth Chapter of the Federalist Society, and the trial judge who was responsible for sentencing Benjamin Song last week to 100 years in prisonwill sentence four defendants on Wednesday who cooperated with the prosecution.
What: Federal sentencing of additional Prairieland defendants
When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 8:30am
Where: Federal Courthouse, 501 West 10th Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102
Supporters will hold a press conference, featuring statements by defendants, family members, and community and faith leaders, outside the courthouse at 11am or when sentencing concludes.
This case is about far more than the Prairieland demonstrators, said Sufia Khalid, Deputy Director of the National Security Criminal Defense Center at the Muslim Legal Fund of America, and legal counsel for Prairieland defendant Maricela Rueda, who was sentenced last week to 70 years in prison. It asks whether the government may continue expanding terrorism statutes into the realm of domestic political protest and then obtain 50 to 100 year sentences of imprisonment based on sentencing theories the jury itself rejected, continued Khalid. Those are profound constitutional questions involving due process, proportionality, and the First Amendment. We will be seeking careful appellate review of the abuses in this case.
In light of the egregious sentencing and trial irregularities, nonprofits, politicians, and pundits have brought renewed attention to the Prairieland case and the precedent set for those engaging in anti-ICE protest. Similar attempts in Minnesota, Michigan, and Spokane by the Trump administration to target left-wing protest have added to growing concerns that the Prairieland case will serve as a blueprint for politically motivated prosecutions. Protests are a protected human right, stated Amnesty International last week. The Trump administration continues to misuse overly broad and vaguely defined domestic terrorism charges against anyone it deems to be antifa, continued the statement. These charges are not only politically motivated, but they are a serious abuse of criminal law to target dissent and neutralize opposition.
Minutes before last weeks sentencing, Judges Pittman and OConnor dismissed numerous motions to overturn the convictions without providing written rulings and with little-to-no explanation. All nine trial defendants filed motions for a new trial, detailing how the government failed to provide the necessary evidence for a conviction and instead put on a trial that was saturated with evidence designed to evoke fear, political bias, and guilt by association, according to one of the motions. Another motion details potential juror misconduct. Prairieland defendants have vowed to fight their convictions and will be filing appeals in the following weeks.
From the beginning, supporters have argued the federal Prairieland defendants were denied a fair trialfrom the prosecutor referring to them, without evidence, as a North Texas antifa terror cell, to prejudicial actions taken at the highest levels of government, to court decisions that limited their defense, including sanctioning and threatening defense counsel, declaring a mistrial when the prospective jury pool appeared sympathetic to the defendants, and denying Benjamin Song a defense of another argument at trial.
The Prairieland cases, involving 22 people charged with both state and federal charges, stem from a noise demonstration in solidarity with detainees at the Prairieland ICE Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, on July 4, 2025. After the protest, an officer with the Alvarado Police Department arrived on the scene, quickly drawing his gun and pointing it at departing protesters. Shots were fired and the officer allegedly sustained minor injuries, but authorities have never provided hospital records to justify these claims. Alvarado police arrested ten people in the area, and a dozen more were arrested over the following several months.
