I think crowd in DC on the fourth may be larger than some here are predicting

It certainly will fall short of whatever "massive" number Trump claims, but it likely will be a sizable crowd notwithstanding everything. I say this based on the fact that I just flew back to DC from Milwaukee and the airport was very, very crowded and quite a few of those in the arrival and baggage claim areas, coming in not only from Milwaukee, but also from Chicago, Kansas City, and New Orleans, were decked out in red, white and blue -themed shirts and hats many specifically referencing the 250th anniversary (and even a "Turning Point" shirt.

Hope I'm wrong, but I've been flying in and out of National Airport for decades and it was definitely more crowded than an average Thursday.

other related serious consequences. They are limiting the amount of water or food that can be brought in, not allowing metal or other water bottles, and disallowing sunscreen and mosquito repellent. fold-up chairs or any attempts at shade (umbrellas, etc)... I hate to predict calamity, but it is likely. You could not pay me to be there.

You're absolutely right about the local hospitals. Hopefully they'll provide on-site facilities. Heck, even Woodstock had their own first-aid areas.

So, it is a big day! It should be celebrated.

But the heat might thin out the crowds from what I hear.

We'll be having company all weekend, serving food, splashing in the pool and enjoying the fireworks show the guys down the street put on every year.

Anyone who thinks it will be empty is kidding themselves. But, it will probably be a total shitshow for anyone who does go down there, what with the weather and the insanely late fireworks start (and the fucking Trump speech… ugh)

EMS working all shifts evacuating the hundreds of heat strokes, strokes, heat exhaustion, and designed, for-profit dehydration.

I think we'll just hang at the local high school stadium and watch muni fireworks.
