The U.S. Department of Energy apparently deleted its longstanding guidance that homeowners keep their air conditioning set to 78 degrees, after critics slammed New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) for giving the exact same advice during the current heat wave.
DC local Fox affiliate news anchor Jim Lokay noted the deletion on Blue Sky Thursday afternoon and included screenshots.
The department then appeared to delete multiple web pages on air conditioning, heating and cooling, and home cooling, Mediaite found Thursday.
The deletions came after Mamdani urged New Yorkers to conserve energy Wednesday amid a heat wave.

Republican critics came out of the woodwork to roast Mamdani, likening the energy advice to communism.

And have been asked to restrict usage voluntarily. But as long as data centers keep being built and using tons of water, Im not about to allow my tiny, carefully tended garden to burn up.

(5,605 posts)i ran my air conditioning condensate out there with a hose. and am trying to figure out a way to cistern rain water without encouraging mosquitos.
