In 1976, I spent months making a George Washington costume for my 6 year old son and a Martha one for me. This was our celebration in Grandview Heights, Ohio. And we went to the Ohio Historical Center for their 4th. program.
Today, neither of us are celebrating.

There is a park near me, where high school students wrote in setting concrete on the sidewalk. It was at a summer parks and rec program. It was cool to read and hard to believe it was 50 years ago.

I hope you were able to give away your son's GW costume, maybe to his school's Arts program. But your dress, wow, that's a keeper!
I used to love sewing my boys' costumes for school, Halloween, etc
