I had some friends coming to California on vacation from England. They were telling me their driving itinerary. It was like, "So we'll start in L.A., hop over to Yosemite in the afternoon, and then head over to S.F. to spend the night. The next day, we were planning to drive up to Portland. We haven't decided if we want to try to stay there or just head out to Seattle that night."
I sent them a map of California superimposed over England.
They changed their plans.

That they would complain about travel times. On the other hand, they do have much better public travel options instead of automobile travel.
