ME Senate race has kind of taken up all the oxygen lately, but Talarico

is doing great in TX according to a Houston Chronicle reporter who is on Ari Melbar's show right now. He says that the candidates are tied (I know, how is that possible? Answer: it's Texas), but there are some data points that are really good for Talarico.

He is at forty percent with Independents, which is higher than Allred or O'Rourke. Paxton is also at only twenty percent with Independents, and not likely to climb much higher since Independents are very upset with the party turning their back on Cornyn.

This reporter also admitted, though, that Talarico has his work cut out for him to win more votes in the black community. There still seems to be some reluctance among Jasmine Crockett voters to fully embrace him. I think it would be great if he visited black churches as John Ossoff is doing.

Anyway, maybe with some of the attention off Maine for a while, other races will start to
get more attention. There are so many close ones, and we need them all!

We got our hopes up too many times only to get them crushed.
But he seems to be doing better than previous candidates, so who knows...

Taylor Rehmet won more than 70% of indepdent voters in his recent Texas Senate upset, won 30% of voters who had previously participated in Republican primaries and won 80% of the Hispanic vote. All this in a deep red Texas county.

Early days, but it's hard not to get excited about it.

which trump has won by 15% or more (I'm basing this off memory), held by GOP since early or mid-nineties (at least). Dem turnout was the key helped by underperfoming GOP voters.

Here's a really great local news story about the districtct itself (which I gew up adjacent to).

And to clarify: this election was for a Texas senate seat.

There aren't going to be many folks in October and November breaking for Paxton all of the sudden. Keep it close and finish when it counts.

Bad form on her part if she doesn’t. If she wants to remain in politics she should know that people and Parties have memories.

I will never understand why Dems are held to a higher
standard than Republicans (who really have no standards
whatsoever that aren't completely white based and self-
serving.

I wonder if they even want him to come ... but that's another issue.

By the reports I've seen in DU, Talarico is doing well in fundraising and he's picking up a lot of newer younger voters. That's a good sign, but those voters are hard to predict. I believe there are certain areas of the state that are very purple, and even shades of blue. If the D voters come out in November, and if the Rs stay home, then Talarico will have a real chance to win this.
