End of story.

Now she needs to get the 80 million more that she was awarded because Trump didn’t
follow the court’s order to not speak about or defame Ms. Carroll after he lost the first
case.

a nonprofit organization backed by billionaire Democratic donor and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. Most likely Carroll's legal fees and costs were more than the $7 million received from American Future Republic, so she may still owe Kaplan. We don't know what sort of fee arrangement Carroll made with Kaplan. I seriously doubt she'll have to pay Kaplan 90% of the $5.6 million, plus the $7 million already paid her.

44. Status of the $83 million judgment:
Tue Jul 14, 2026, 02:06 PM
Tuesday

In May, after rejecting Trump's last attempt to get the second circuit to reverse the judgment, that court, with Carroll's consent, stayed the release of the payment pending the outcome of a forthcoming petition for certiorari that Trump has until July 28 to file with the supreme court but that won't be dealt with by the court prior to the new session in October.

In addition, notwithstanding the payment of the $5 million judgment, Trump still has a petition to reconsider the denial of certiorari in that case pending at the Supreme Court. Not going to venture a guess as to when SCOTUS will address that petition, but the fact that it didn't act quickly knowing that the money was about to be released would seem to suggest that they aren't likely to grant rehearing -- something that is very rare.
