Uncertainty

This is how trump keeps people off balance.

Not to be confused with complacence, ignorance on not caring. When people can't say that the laws that applied yesterday no longer apply today, they will question.

Trump masks his subversion of society by pretending that great thought is going on. That's utter bullshit. He is covering up his clueless-ness by pretending to be making considered judgements.

He wants you all to feel unsafe. Events unpredictable, outcomes unknown.

He has very little actual control, only the power to sow chaos and destruction.

He has, as the US President, almost unlimited real power. The power to sow chaos is still a power. You and I may dismiss it, and be impenetrable to his mind games. Many are not.

The difference between power and control is an important distinction.

The supposed Leader of the Free World only commands his small circle of minions, who issue orders, some of which are followed, some ignored, others blocked by the courts.

The states and other nations of the world do their best to cope with his chaos and destruction, but otherwise, go about their business, largely free of any direct control by Trump.

He is a weak, incompetent (albeit dangerous) failure.

and has his finger on the nuclear trigger and Truth Social
in the middle of the night, while I sleep....

I never had to feel that way under President Biden or President Obama!

I was just FINE with 'Sleepy Joe Biden'----
completely confident that he wouldn't start a nuclear war
over a 'rage-tweet' in the middle of the night!!---

Diaper Donald should sleep more at night,
and somebody should take his fucking phone away from him---
or AWAY from the guy who is in charge of his
'social media posts'...... (and kick the shit out of that moron!)

You are expected to respect a guy purposely trying to destabilise American society, turn citizen against citizen, It's more than taking his phone away. He is stupendously unfit for public office. That some senators and congress members still support him only emphasises the corruption that is american politics.

Is there any coming back from this?

Let’s watch how many Democrats get elected in November.

Let’s watch what kinds of positions Democrats will capture, and what that might mean.

Those of us who can - could find some local Democratic office or local headquarters and maybe offer some help.
Do you have even just one or two hours a week you could give to a local Dem?
Could you take just a few minutes to write (and send) a short letter to the editor of your local newspaper?

I know everybody’s busy. But it’s summer and most kids don’t have classes or carpools. What could be done, if there’s motivation and maybe even just a wee bit of open time? Add a little bit of creativity and a pinch of nerve, and who knows what you might be able to do to “help the Dems”!
