GOP lawmaker unloads on Trump 'grifters' as US Mint starts making $1 Trump coins
ep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) came down hard on Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s Wednesday announcement that the U.S. Mint is now producing a “new $1 gold coin” honoring President Donald Trump on the front.
“Congratulations, we’ve entered the end stages,” Massie wrote on X. “Eliminate the penny, plug the nickel, and make some commemorative gold coins nobody can afford.”
He added: “I feel sorry for the folks who will be sold worthless knockoffs of this by the usual grifters.”
