Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) left the internet stunned on Thursday when he suggested that Americans
should
work seven days a week.
Scott made the comment during a Fox News interview about a new bipartisan tariff measure.
"Americans work five days a week, the minimum we ought to work is seven days a week," Scott said. "I'm a business guy. Business people have to work every day. We need to work every day to get this stuff done."

They've spent 60 years and untold billions on the ideological project of separating workers from an understanding of their class and condition. Now they're going to realize that investment, they think. One last push against the communists. One last push and they're through, they think.

(26,196 posts)days a week? Uh, what would the maximum be, child? Should we work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Ricky?

(24,656 posts)This is their way, they'd roll back the idea of a 5 day workweek if they knew they didn't have to face voters again.

(9 posts)Yes, Rick Scott the guy who was involved in the largest Medicare fraud in US history where as CEO his company had to pay $1.7 BILLION dollars in fines for the theft of US taxpayer dollars. Don't fret though he didn't have to pay a cent of his own, but his company did right before giving Scott a golden parachute. To be clear, Scott always votes to give himself a raise as a senator even though Senators only work about 160 days out of 365. These are guys who cut $1 trillion dollars from our pensions (social security) and our healthcare (Medicare) the premiums of which are taken out of our paychecks automatically in the form of FICA taxes but are always sure that THEY get full pensions and full health insurance. Any opinion this guy has is not only worthless but by definition hypocrisy. Scott should be in prison for his theft of medicare funds but instead Republicans elected him to office as they have with many other criminals like Trump.

(9,409 posts)Rick Scott isn't up for reelection until 2030, so he can say shit like that and be fairly certain everyone will forget he said it by the summer of 2030. Democrats need to give continuous memory jogs to the voters of Florida so they will remember his words and the absolute disdain for working people he has.
I wonder what he thinks the maximum days people ought to work each week?
