What to know about campaigns, voting and turnout in the Anchorage election's home stretch

With only a few days left to vote, turnout for the upcoming Anchorage city election is pacing slightly ahead of 2025.

Voters will elect six of 12 Anchorage Assembly seats and two of seven Anchorage School Board positions on Tuesday.

Residents will also decide on a lengthy list of municipal bonds and a one-time tax levy for the Anchorage School District. The school district faced a $90 million budget deficit for next school year, leading to program cuts and school closures.

Mayor Suzanne LaFrance introduced the $12 million levy in January with the intent of funding the school district to the maximum amount permitted under state law. If passed, this money will go toward reducing class sizes and supporting teacher positions.
