Park (D) secures Anchorage Assembly Midtown seat in recount

Janice Park will represent Midtown on the Anchorage Assembly after securing 26 more votes than her closest opponent, according to a recount by election officials Friday.

Since election night, the three-way race to represent Midtown remained close between Park and Dave Donley, a longtime local politician who also served on the Anchorage School Board.

Park won the race with a 0.24% margin, amounting to 26 votes, according to Friday’s recount. These numbers remained the same as results released Thursday evening.

Park held 46.5% of votes while Donley had 46.2% of votes. A third candidate, Kim Winston, did not widely campaign.
