Former Democratic vice presidential nominee and current Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will appear in Omaha Saturday morning.
Walz and Nebraska Democratic Party officials are set to speak at Metropolitan Community Colleges Swanson Conference Center, 5730 N 30th St. Building 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Walzs appearance comes as part of a tour to U.S. House districts represented by Republicans, many of whom he has criticized for not holding in-person town halls with constituents.
Incumbent U.S. Rep. Don Bacon, who is one of only three House Republicans who won in districts Democratic presidential nominee and former Vice President Kamala Harris carried in the 2024 election, announced he will hold a telephone town hall at 6:15 p.m. on March 25. In a press release, Bacon said people can participate by calling 855-962-1225 or by visiting the website bacon.house.gov/live.
In his release, Bacon said telephone town halls are capable of reaching thousands of constituents. He said that stood in contrast to in-person town halls, which he said are limited by venue sizes of typically a couple of hundred.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, right, and his daughter Hope Walz, arrive at Eppley Airfield in Omaha for a campaign rally on Oct. 19, 2024. The Minnesota governor is scheduled to appear at Omaha's Metropolitan Community College on Saturday morning for a town hall.
