That's where means to an end comes in. Right leaning Catholics tend to be pretty reliable when it comes to Heritage's views women's reproductive healthcare. On the Protestant side, only serious fundies and Christian nationalists are as reliable. The rest are a mixed bag. It might have been too heavy a lift getting those crazies through the Senate. And Catholics can always fall back on "that's the official teaching of the church but not necessarily my view." A bit more complicated for Protestants. That may be a stretch, but I think it was all about the legality of abortion and birth control. Trump didn't have a clue who the hell those people were. He just nominated whoever was suggested.
