Several people killed after SUV rams into Vancouver street festival

Source: CBC

Vancouver police say several people have been killed and multiple others injured after a driver of a black SUV drove into a crowd at a street festival Saturday evening.

The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. near East 41st Avenue and Fraser Street, where the Lapu Lapu Day Block Party was taking place.
...
He said crews lifted a barricade that had been blocking traffic to allow a vehicle to enter. While some cars were being guided carefully through the crowds, Pangilinan said one car suddenly sped up and struck a person.

"Then we realized what was happening and everybody started yelling," he said. "[The driver] just slammed the pedal down and rammed into hundreds of people. It was like seeing a bowling ball hit -- all the bowling pins and all the pins flying up in the air."

I don't understand why they were able to discount the terrorism possibility. It sounds like an anti-immigrant attack. Canada has an anti-immigrant faction too.

No mental health screenings for this asshole. Throw him in a dungeon and forget he’s there. The prosecutor needs to show up at the courthouse with ten million people who have mental health issues, but never murdered anyone.

garbage trucks. on side streets leading to the art show. On streets they need to have accesable for ambulance/fire they have these neat moveable devices. They are big and are on wheels. One side has a ramp that catches the front of the car/truck and the other side has a gizmo that digs into the pavement when the vehicle tries to ride up and over. Kinda sorta looks like this. Same idea but a bit different..
