President Trump vowed to bring back Columbus Day from the ashes in a fiery social media post where he railed against backlash to the controversial European explorer whom the holiday honors.
Im bringing Columbus Day back from the ashes, Trump wrote on Truth Social. The Democrats did everything possible to destroy Christopher Columbus, his reputation, and all of the Italians that love him so much. They tore down his Statues, and put up nothing but WOKE, or even worse, nothing at all! Well, youll be happy to know, Christopher is going to make a major comeback.
I am hereby reinstating Columbus Day under the same rules, dates, and locations, as it has had for all of the many decades before!

(2,166 posts)from a stack, and smiling passengers waving their arms out of open windows. Oh, those were the days he dreams of. It's a pity he doesn't have a clue. The days of Colombus as a hero are as far behind us as the early trains.
Seriously, who is he trying to appeal to? What diminishing portion of the population does he think of as the future of America? He needs some serious help.

(11,066 posts)I'll give him credit for being a decent mariner (I'm still impressed by how early sailors were able to find their ways back home) but he was a bad enough administrator and colonizer to get himself hauled back to Spain in chains, which took some doing. Still, he had a tremendous historical impact, making the two hemispheres aware of each other.
I advocate for "Encounter Day", when we can reflect on how the world changed.
