July 12 (Reuters) - U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said on Saturday that she was in talks with five Republican-led states to build another detention site inspired by the "Alligator Alcatraz" facility in Florida.

"We've had several other states that are actually using Alligator Alcatraz as a model for how they can partner with us," Noem told a press conference in Florida.

She declined to name the states.

and had already had land set aside for concentration camps.

And a number of migrants have been held in some facility in LA, so I expect LA is on the list. I would hazard to guess that other "swampy" states like AL & SC might be interested, and since AR has been cavalierly shoved aside, perhaps Huckleberry would try to get "something out of them", somehow, some way.

They're making these offers for money. Which make me wonder just how much we're paying to house each undocumented prisoner.

Republicans always derided democrats for "throwing money at a problem", but seem to think a few billion dollars on new prison camps is better spent than bailing out an unemployed single mother.

But, who knows?

Maybe every person who lives in a red state, and that can, should start calling and writing their reps to let them know that the state should not participate in such a human rights travesty. That there will be consequences for standing with such a fascist agenda, and administration, and those consequences are coming soon.

Or, wait and see. Some people really think that this practice will create a more equitable solution to our current situation. I have never seen this scenario work out in a fully positive way myself.

But, again, who knows?
