Bryan Kohberger sentenced to 4 life terms in prison without parole for Idaho murders

Source: CBS News

Bryan Kohberger was sentenced to four life sentences without the possibility of parole on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to the murders of four University of Idaho students in 2022.

Families of the victims delivered emotional statements at the sentencing hearing, held in a courtroom in Boise. When given the opportunity to speak, Kohberger declined to do so.

Kohberger pleaded guilty earlier this month to the murders of Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves as part of a plea deal that spared him from the death penalty. He was in the courtroom Wednesday wearing an orange prison jumpsuit and listened as the families of the victims confronted him with powerful statements.

The hearing lasted about three hours, with more than a dozen family impact statements read aloud.

But on the heels of the Breonna Taylor's murder only getting a slap on the hand (33 months) - it really highlights the tale of two victims in America.

only hope that Trump doesn't pardon him--but he likely will.

As to Kohberger, I am just sorry that the judge could not find some way to make his plea deal (that allowed him to escape the death penalty) contingent on answering the families' pleas to discuss his motivation. I get why, but the families are not alone in feeling like justice has not fully served them.

White victims vs Black Victims.

If the four had been Black - he would have received 33 months - a slap on his hand. Especially in Idaho.

In our white centric justice system.

It is not designed to give justice to Black Americans. Our constitution has never been altered to remove the dehumanizing 3/5 language. As long as that stays - I get to hate AmeriKKKa.

I understand - all murders are handled the same and there's no disparity . . ..Race never plays a part in how a missing woman is handled, black victims of gun violence . . .

My cousin was the 13th murder in Rochester NY in 1991. One of the responding officers wrote NHI on their report. No one brought to justice in our *snicker* justice system.

But absolutely - he was treated equal to Ron and Nicole.

He seems a swell candidate for a full pardon, fitting in well with the team our felon-in-chief has been assembling.

This is 100 percent state level. Any pardon would have to come from Brad Little, who isn’t going to pardon this individual.

Hoping there is no way the FIWH (Felon In the White House) can pardon this bum.
