Scramble on to recover $140 million bilked from 'America First MAGA patriots': ABC News

Source: Raw Story

August 2, 2025 1:19PM ET

Victims of what is being called a $140 million Ponzi scheme aimed at Christians and “America First MAGA patriots," are eagerly hoping for a return of their money, reports ABC News.

The report notes that a federal receiver is seeking the millions that "benefited some Republicans in the top ranks of their party in Georgia and Alabama," although some of them are claiming they lost money too.

At the center of the scandal is First Liberty Building & Loan, had promised investors up to 16% in profits based upon making high-interest loans to businesses which did not materialize.

According to the report, advertising for First Liberty was "pitched on shows hosted by conservatives including Erick Erickson, Hugh Hewitt and Charlie Kirk."

Everything they do is for grifting, including through Ponzi schemes.

for his "We Build the Wall" scam (his co-partners all ended up with jail sentences in federal prison).

After many fits and starts (and 45's pardon of him for the federal case for felony fraud charges), he got a plea deal for the NY state prosecution of the case, in exchange for no jail time - Steve Bannon pleads guilty in New York 'We Build the Wall' case

bad fiction. What kind of a fool invests money with a guy named Brant Frost IV?

As Trump likes to say, these two are right out of central casting.

A Tom Wise CEO of Silverado Savings and Loan type SWINDLE.............Among other criminal things, he and Neil Bush offered savings account interest in the high teens to all his best friends and Uber Rich buddies. They jumped at it, because even if they knew it (he) was a fraud, it was guaranteed by the SLIC?
Silverado, under Michel Wise and Neil Bush (board member) got a bailout by the U.S. Taxpayers of 2 Billion in 1980 dollars.
The first morning of the trial in Denver, the judge threw out the case after the prosecutors spent two years compiling proof of Corruption, not just poor business management. The Denver Federal Judge recused himself from the trial, and they brought up a federal judge from Texas......
Wise, Bush, and none of the other board members paid a penny in fines or spent a single day incarcerated......

The only bright spot is that the money gets pocketed instead of used for campaigning against Democrats.

When funding for agencies which protect the consumer are slashed; tens of thousands of federal employees are terminated -they’ll find out that there’s nobody left to advocate for their losses.

Elections have consequences.

Their plan was to get rich off the gullibility and ignorance of right-wing voters. It reminds me of how trump ran for office as a republican after being a lfelong Democrat because he knew he could easily con and trick dumb republican voters. His crap would not have worked for one second among Democrats.
