Trump Administration Moves To Ban Abortion Care For Veterans: 'Unspeakably Cruel'

Source: Huff Post

Aug 2, 2025, 01:14 PM EDT | Updated 5 hours ago

The Trump administration moved Friday to end a Biden-era rule that allows Veterans Affairs facilities to provide abortion care services, claiming the policy “contradicted decades of Federal policy against forced taxpayer funding for abortion.”

The rule, implemented in 2022 after the Supreme Court’s landmark decision overturning abortion rights, allowed VA facilities to provide abortion counseling. It also allowed the VA to provide abortions under specific circumstances, including in cases of rape, incest or when the veteran’s health was at risk due to the pregnancy.

The proposed rule change, authorized by Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins, would end those exceptions, only allowing abortion in life-threatening circumstances such as ectopic pregnancies. Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said the proposed rule change is “unspeakably cruel.”

“Trump and Secretary Collins are ripping away necessary health care from pregnant veterans whose lives and health are in danger, or who were raped—it’s unspeakably cruel and a grotesque assault on women who have put their lives on the line to keep us safe,” she said in a Friday statement. “The bottom line is, Republicans don’t care if your health is in danger, if you’re a veteran, or if you’ve been raped—they want abortion outlawed everywhere, in every circumstance, for everyone.”

I wonder what inspires them? Were too many of this movement’s “leaders” unable to get dates (or get laid on demand)?

I sense a punishment-thing motivating a lot of this. I could certainly be wrong. A revenge quest (I couldn’t have you one way so I’m gonna have you a different way!)? Or a hard-on for the dominance they don’t know how to achieve any other way?

The men behind this shit CLEARLY and ABSOLUTELY don’t know how to have any sort of normal love/mutual-respect relationship. So their answer may just be “I’m gonna FORCE it on you, girlie”.

Disgusting and downright sickening.

3. So, you're a woman and you enlist into the Military.

You survive basic training. You follow orders. You support your team and battalion.

And try to survive sexual harassment. And try to avoid being raped.

Except you were. And you're pregnant.

And TSF is telling you that you CAN get an abortion (depending on your state), but the government won't pay for it; you will.

5. And with Hegseth's demands, will opt to promote any military male accused of rape leading to pregnancy,

--rather than court martial, turn over to civilian LEO, or drum out of the military otherwise. And, at the same time, demand that the woman bear the child while removing any military support for doing so and holding her back career-wise from promotion throughout her future.

Trump won't need persuading, clearly--just Hegseth's "conception" of the idea (pun intended).

Why would anyone risk their lives defending this dystopian nightmare?

I understand that in certain parts of the country there are no other employment options, but to die for Trump?
