From the bottom of my heart thank you for helping my fellow Texas Democrats.

Now they are safe.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington stand with us.

so may need to cross them off the list....

The Blue and Purple states (with few exceptions, Texas being one) produce the vast majority of wealth, innovation, research breakthroughs, etc. that sustain this country. We really need to be thinking of ways to use that leverage to force better behavior by the taker states. I am not talking about secession, at least not in the literal sense. But I am talking about economic alliances among the producer states that would have the effect of punishing states that are not doing their part maintain a civil and prosperous society for the common good.

There are things that can be done and still be within the 4 corners of the Constitution, particularly the "Compacts" clause. These are very much worth discussing, but the first discussion needs to be the recognition that the time has come that the prosperous states MUST take strong action -- call it "tough love" if you will.

Kudos to her for winning a bright red state... but the legislature draws the lines in KS and republicans have veto-proof majorities in both chambers.

Abbott can arrest any Democrats in Texas but they are all out of Texas right now

They can be seized in TX… but no other state (nor the feds) have the power to do anything.

Of course… that doesn’t mean it will be easy since they can’t go home

That was for Tom Delay's horrible gerrymandering.

They came back on their own as it became clear that they could not convince senate Democrats to kill the filibuster for a national bill protecting voting rights in a way that could overcome what TX was then trying to do. That was after 38 days (mostly in DC)

In 2003 it was another mid-cycle redistricting effort and it was in OK.

In neither case were they arrested - though IIRC the governor did win a court ruling confirming that they could be seized if they were found in TX.
