Int'l Red Cross, WHO, call for the release of the hostages in Gaza in joint statement

Source: Jerusalem Post

Following the publication of hostage videos of Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski, the International Red Cross (ICRC) and World Health Organization (WHO) have called for the immediate and unconditional release of the hostages in statements released on Monday.

"These videos are stark evidence of the life-threatening conditions in which the hostages are being held," the ICRC stated. "We have said from day one, and we reiterate, that all hostages must be released immediately and unconditionally."

"All forms of public exposure that humiliate persons deprived of liberty and endanger their safety must be avoided. This dire situation must come to an end," the statement concluded.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, echoed the ICRC's statement in a post on X/Twitter, saying that "all those being held must receive access to food and medical care, and must be treated without any form of humiliation."

It's been 21 months. Other than Israelis themselves in Israel, where is the world's universal condemnation of hostage taking?

The occasional statements issued by a handful of NGOs only accentuate the otherwise deafening silence in the face of this outrage.

US ‘appalled’ that Security Council resolution doesn’t condemn Hamas for October 7

In addition, 28 UN member states do not recognize Israel.

-------------------------------------------

Last week at the UN when the Arab League condemned the October 7 attack and called on Hamas to release the hostages, disarm, and surrender.

Let that sink in. The Arab League has condemned the October 7 attack. The UN has not.

Shame.

Excellent question. It's very rare indeed.
