Trump administration plans to build largest US federal migrant detention center on military base

Aug 7 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's administration is aiming to construct the largest federal migrant detention facility in the United States on a military base in Texas, the Pentagon said on Thursday, the latest move to use military resources to make good on his immigration agenda.

Trump has stepped up arrests of immigrants in the U.S. illegally, cracked down on unlawful border crossings, and stripped legal status from hundreds of thousands of migrants. Since taking office this year, Trump has sent migrants to Guantanamo Bay naval base, though in far fewer numbers than planned.

The Pentagon said the initial plan was to hold 1,000 migrants at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, by mid to late August and then finish construction of a facility with 5,000 beds in "the weeks and months ahead."

"Upon completion, this will be the largest federal detention center in history for this critical mission - the deportation of illegal aliens," Kingsley Wilson, a Pentagon spokesperson, told reporters. While the facility is being built on a military base, the Department of Homeland Security is expected to be responsible for the migrants.

1. Even Hitler didn't turn military bases into concentration camps.

From AI:

Concentration camps were established as detention centers for individuals deemed a "subversive danger to the German race" by the Nazi leadership, according to the Holocaust Encyclopedia. They were designed to operate outside the normal legal framework, with incarceration rarely linked to a specific crime or trial. This was fundamentally different from the purpose of military bases, which were for housing, training, and deploying military personnel.

Trump is damaging national security and combat readiness by turning US military bases into concentration camps.

He is taking a wrecking ball to the US for money and power.
And to do the job his minders are paying him to do.

MAGA wetdreams of state-sanctioned racial cruelties, I can foresee a future where only white-nationalists will be attracted (or ALLOWED) to enlist, and many veterans will become ashamed that they ever wore the uniform.

Including pushing through the Patriot act and sending people without due process to Guantanamo Bay. The Republicans back then did use the Constitution as toilet paper, infringing on the following sections:

Article 1, Section 9: Suspension of habeas corpus for "unlawful enemy combatants"
1st Amendment: Bush Wiretapping Program, Free Speech Zones that forced protesters to protest a mile or more away from an event (sometimes even in cages), violations against the separation of church and state,
4th Amendment: Patriot Act
6th Amendment: using military tribunals to conduct secret trials with secret evidence
8th Amendment: committing torture on terrorism suspects and using extraordinary renditioning to send them to other countries to be tortured

Muslim communities in the United States were being terrorized by the federal government back then as well.

9. If the detention center is in a military base it would be hard to be up close to protest.

It would be hard to view what's going on inside.
All very hard to monitor conditions... They want to hide what they are doing and a base provides cover.
A thought...
