States are taking steps to ease access to COVID-19 vaccines as they await federal recommendation

The governors of Arizona, Illinois, Maine and North Carolina on Friday joined the growing list of Democratic officials who have signed orders intended to ensure most residents can receive COVID-19 vaccines at pharmacies without individual prescriptions.
Unlike past years, access to COVID-19 vaccines has become complicated in 2025, largely because federal guidance does not recommend them for nearly everyone this year as it had in the past. Heres a look at where things stand.
Pharmacy chain says the shots are available in most states without individual prescriptions
CVS Health, the biggest pharmacy chain in the U.S., says its stores are offering the shots without an individual prescription in 41 states as of midday Friday.
But the remaining states Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah and West Virginia, plus the District of Columbia require individual prescriptions under the companys interpretation of state policies. Arizona, Maine and North Carolina are likely to come off that list as the new orders take effect there.

(7,214 posts)Assuming they are overburdened by this Rx required bullshit. NOT how to improve healthcare, but the Brain Worm in charge of HHS is probably enjoying the chaos.
So, once again, Trump is in the WH and we are having a terrible time getting vaccine. Remember how we had to constantly refresh browsers, hoping to get onto a site to make an appointment when the vaccine was first introduced? Remember how quick and easy it was to get boosters when Biden's team took over?
Trump and his sponsors want us dead. That way they get all our stuff too.

(154 posts)My wife and I got both our Covid and Flu shots today. Being over 65 we did expect to be able to get them, but thought there might be some delay or lack of availability. However, it went very smoothly, just logged on to CVS website and made the appointment, totally hassle free.
