Shaker gives region a major early morning jolt

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 gave the Bay Area a big jolt early Monday morning., the United States Geological Survey reports. The quake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 4.6, had an epicenter in Berkeley on Dwight Way near Piedmont Avenue Streets in the Elmwood District near the University of California campus struck at 2:56 a.m.

Likely the reason we felt this earthquake in San Francisco even though we are 70+ miles away from the epicenter is because it looked to occur on the San Andreas Fault. Which then rippled north into the City.
